Vidya P. Kini, MD

Dr. Kini was raised in New Delhi, India and moved to the United States to pursue her post-graduate training.
She is distinguished with dual board certifications
in Physical Medicine and Electrodiagnostic Medicine.

Dr. Kini completed her internship in Internal
Medicine at Wayne State University School of
Medicine in Detroit, Michigan. She completed
four years post-graduate residency training in
Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the
Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee,
where she was Chief Resident and appointed
as Clinical Instructor. She is board certified in
Electrodiagnostic Medicine.

Practicing in Fort Myers area since 1989, Dr. Kini is on staff at all area hospitals. She is an active member of the Lee County Medical Society, Member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Member of the American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine, Florida Medical Association, Florida Society of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, and a member of the Physiatric Association of Spine, Sports & Occupational Medicine.

Dr. Kini is the proud parent of daughter, Tara, born in 1995.

Physiatrist are Physicians who treat a wide range of problems from sore shoulders to spinal cord injuries. The focus of the specialty is on restoring function to people. Physiatrists treat acute and chronic pain and musuloskeletal disorders. They may see a person who lifts a heavy object at work and experiences back pain, a basketball player who sprains an ankle and needs rehabilitation to play again, or a knitter who has carpal tunnel syndrome.Physiatrists’ patients also include people with arthritis, both operative and non-operative, tendonitis, any kind of pain, and work or sports-related injuries.
Physiatrists treat very serious disorders of the musculoskeletal system that result in severe functional limitations as well. They would treat a baby with a birth defect, someone in a bad car accident, or an elderly person with a broken hip. Physiatrists also treat people with spinal cord injuries, brain injuries, strokes, amputations, cancer, and multiple sclerosis. All require a long-term rehabilitation process.
