The scheduled 21% cut in Medicare physician payments has once again been delayed, but only for a month. The battle is far from over. The flawed SGR calculation remains a constant threat to the economic viability of physician practices.
IPALC is recommending that physicians ask their patients to support this effort by signing letters to their senators urging them to solve this problem permanently. Please download these packets, print the letters, and ask your patients to complete and sign. Your office staff can then fax them to our senators. The packet begins with a flyer from the AGA and a letter "from your physician." Please read the
letter from Dr. Craig Sweet, President of Lee County Medical Society regarding the concerns about the SGR. Letters have been updated as of March 10, 2010 and are available on the
IPALC and
LCMS web sites.
